Fifty Shades of Grey Casted!

This morning I was tagged to an article on, announcing the two main characters for one of the Most Anticipated movies of 2014 has been cast. Some friends know me too well. I’d read a similar article only a couple hours earlier and had a discussion with my husband about the two actors.

The Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation is being produced by Universal Pictures & Focus Features. Now that I think about it, it was probably really hard to consider first class actors for these roles. Assuming there will be three movies, a lot of sexual and graphic scenes, with a side of naughty language, someone like Channing Tatum (hubby’s preference for Mr Grey) probably can’t stand the heat or tarnish his good image with this erotic movie. Charlie & Dakota are in it so they better start getting used to each other because millions of fans & critics will be watching them, up close and personal next year.

Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey

Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele

Charlie Hunnam, probably better known as his character Jax on Sons of Anarchy (2008-) has been cast as the leading male, Mr Christian Grey. Charlie has limited credits to his name which makes his ideal for this role. He looks good in a suit. I think Christian is dark-haired but dye can fix that & I’m guessing under all these layers he is a fit man. He has plenty of time to get into shape.

Rooney Mara

Dakota Johnson has a couple of hit films to her name, 21 Jump Street (2012) & The Social Network (2010), and worked alongside big stars like Channing Tatum (remember, hubby’s preference). She has been cast as the leading female, Miss Anastasia (Ana) Steele. I picked Ana as a brunette and her flatmate Kate to be the blonde. I think Dakota (as pictured above) would make a better Kate and someone who looks a little Rooney Mara (without her bangs & a little more her in Nightmare on Elm Street).

Channing Tatum

I’m gonna be honest, I’ve read the books and LOVED them! I’ve passed them onto a few ladies in my social circle to read too. I recommend them to all New Adults & Romance fans. You have to get out of the Young Adult genre at some time and these are the books to help you.

No matter who gets cast, I am totally going to see this movie & I don’t think it will be with the hubby though… it’s more a ladies night out I think?

So, tell me, what do you think of the cast (so far) or who do you think would’ve been better cast? Hit me in the Comments section & make sure to add links to photos so we can all see.

  1. I can never come up with actors I’d like to play my favorite characters. I have tons of books I’d love to see as movies, but I’m just not familiar enough with actors to have ideas for casting!

      • I haven’t read them. I’m not against all NA or bondagy sex in books, but was scared off by people who complained about the quality of the writing. I might try them someday just to see what they’re all about though 🙂

      • Yeah I wanted to read them to see what all the fuss was about. A couple of guys in my Uni class were talking about them. Of course, I was intrigued! Boys openly talking about novels, the conversation wasn’t even sex oriented. The conversation I had with my husband and his friend however, they wanted to know all the dirty bits! bahahaha 🙂
