and so it begins! Good luck everyone. You can follow my progress below.

Time Devoted to Reading

I am hoping to devote 5 hours of reading a day, all week.

My Goals

  • I want to read at least 3 books. Gotta stop by the library! ACHIEVED!
  • I want to participate in all 3 of the TweetChats. #fail, I missed the first one.
  • I aim to visit 2 different participants every day, whether it’s blogs, vlogs, twitter, facebook etc. TRIED MY BEST!
  • I want to take part in at least 2 of the Challenges. Mad Libs by Charleen at Cheap Thrills sounds interesting. ACHIEVED!

Books to Read

UPDATES

DAY ONE

Number of books I’ve read today: 1
Total number of books I’ve read: 1
Books: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Total number of pages: 123
Twitter chat: Missed it! Will set my alarm for the next one – Thurs 3pm NZ time

Mad Libs Challenge

Characters Name: James Potter (James Potter and The Morrigan Web)
Adjective 1: Hopeless (Hopeless)
Adjective 2: Pretty (Pretty Girl-13)
Adjective 3: Fantastic (Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them)
Item: Armor (A Night Without Armor)
Occupation: Director (Twilight Directors Notebook)
Act of Violence: Curse (Neferet’s Curse)
Noun 1: Stars (The Fault In Our Stars)
Noun 2: Daughter (The Iron Daughter)

 just read the greatest book!

This guy James Potter ends up in the middle of a Hopeless conspiracy. Turns out his ancestors were pirates, and he might be the key to finding the Pretty Armor. It’s a mythic artifact that disappeared centuries ago, and now a shadowy group of Directors are looking for it. No one knows what uncovering it might do, but these guys are willing to Curse for it.

I won’t say anything else. But believe me, if you like Fantastic stories with Stars and Daughters, you have to read this one.

Cast Your Book Challenge

Oooh, well I try not to have favourites but I’m gonna pick the book: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green because that’s what I am reading at the moment and I’d choose people with distinct voices of similar age to the characters.
Hazel Grace – Abigail Breslin (she’s young and popular)
Augustus Waters – Dave Franco (interesting voice and could probably sound flirty)
Hazels Mum – Ashley Judd (a motherly vibe)
Hazels Dad – Ryan Gosling (very random, but I reckon he looks like he could ugly cry)
Dr Maria – Sandra Bullock (she could pull it off!)

Reading Tactics Challenge

If I could, I would have this week off work but alas, I dont!
I have set myself up on the couch without a view of the TV (that’s a big distraction). My hubby bought me breakfast biscuits so I don’t have to worry about spilling cereal all over my book. Buy snacks before the readathon starts and if your really desperate for minutes, prepare frozen meals! I haven’t gone that far but every second night, hubby cooks

DAY THREE

Number of books I’ve read today: 2
Number of pages: 137 + 142
Books: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green, Twilight Director’s Notes by Catherine Hardwicke
Total number of books I’ve read: 3
Total number of pages: 503

DAY FOUR

Number of books I’ve read today: 1
Number of pages: 40 + listened to 2 hours
Books: The House That Crack Built by Clark Taylor, Life of Pi
Total number of books I’ve read: 4
I made the tail end of the Twitter Chat! Really enjoyed seeing other people get involved & discussing the love of books!

Double Date Book Challenge

I would marry Romeo & Juliet the classic, with Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay.
Why? Juliet Immortal is a contemporary re-telling and follow-on of the classic, yet tragic, love story. If you love YA and want to read a new ending of Romeo & Juliet, this is the book for you! But you have to read the original first.

Replaced: cars with love, game with heart

Have we heaven? you said.
My soulless heart, not –
The love of.

No words, I searched of them in his eyes
f*ck. Will I ever be me again?

DAY SEVEN

I did not read on the final day. I was stressing about my study assignment!

  1. Gosh, you’ve been doing really well! I’ve only managed 1 challenge a day and I’ve only done one book at a time, to keep myself straight. 🙂 Juliet Immortal’s been on my wish list for ages, and that sounds like a wonderful pairing. The Double Date Challenge is so much fun isn’t it? I loved trying to think of the perfect match!

    • I’m confusing myself being a day ahead reading but doing challenges a day behind?
I had never really thought about pairing books before. If I come across any more then I will definitely be posting about it. It’s a fun idea.

      • It certainly is! 🙂 I’d love to do a double review feature sometime using this idea. I just need to end up with the right books in my TBR pile, and read them in the correct order!

  2. Happy Reading! This is my first Bout of Books and I’m pretty excited! Thanks for listing the MadLibs Challenge over at Cheap Thrills. :O)
