Reading Resolutions 2020

I think I’ve posted one of these before, but it’s been awhile and I read one today over at Pages and Tea, and it made me want to put all my reading goals in one spot. It was also a challenge for yesterday’s Bout of Books readathon, so I thought I would turn it into a blog post. Welcome to my Reading Resolutions for 2020.

This is where I set myself a target of how many books to read in a year. Now that study is over, I want to get back into reading for pleasure. I’m aiming for 50 books this year. That’s over double what I have read each year since I was pregnant with my daughter in 2016. See, its been awhile. This number is based on the Popsugar Reading Challenge and loosely reading one book a week.

So my two goals for 2020 are:

  • I want to read 50 books this year
  • I want to write monthly update posts to record my reading and any challenge progress. This will likely happen on my blog, so expect to here from me at the start of each month.

In order to read all those books, I need help. I fall into regular reading slumps. For example, if I start reading a series, like Lux which I’m reading at the mo, and couldn’t move on to the second book, being Onyx, then I get stuck. I don’t wanna pick up another book because I’m so quick to forget about stories, and lose my mojo when it comes to picking up the next book… I know… first world reading problems. This is where readathons will help.

  • I want to participate in all Bout of Books readathons. One is on right now, which I am reading for. The next two are scheduled for 11-17 May and 17-23 August.
  • I want to participate in the Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathons. The next one is scheduled for April 25, 2020.

I mainly use Twitter for updates, so make sure to follow me there. I love the cheerleader aspect, so even if I’m not reading, I will be cheering on. I’m hoping readathons will give me a boost to read a lot of books at one time to make up for the lack of motivation during the down times.

Popsugar Reading Challenge

As I said earlier, I want to read 50 books. This number was inspired by the number of reading prompts for the Popsugar Reading Challenge for 2020, which I have signed up to. It’s my first year participating. There are 40 normal prompts and 10 advanced prompts, which brings the total to 10. I don’t really expect to finish all the prompts, the ones like reading a medical thriller aren’t my reading style. You can follow my progress here.

That’s it for my Reading Resolutions for 2020. Wish me luck!
